Research

During August 2003, Chris Donkin of DonkinITEX was commissioned by the Boston and Spalding & South Holland Learning Partnerships to carry out a study into local ESOL provision. The report was produced on time and has been well received. Many of the recommendations within the report are now being actively pursued by the Local Learning Partnerships. Full version of the report is available (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).

In Spring 2004 DonkinITEX was contracted by the Lincolnshire and Rutland Learning and Skills Council (L&R LSC) to undertake a research project to establish the extent of adult participation in Lincolnshire and Rutland. The project is linked to the development of a local Widening Participation Strategy by the L&R LSC . It also links into the scope of the Strategic Area Review being carried out by the local LSC and its partners. In addition to investigating the type, quality and level of provision available within Lincolnshire and Rutland for young people, the aim of the study was to look at type, level and extent of provision available for adults within the local LSC area. The completed study featured a relational database solution giving the client access to a set of queries that produced output relating to participation rates by age, gender, district, disability and type of course. The report has been well received and is being actively used in the production of the local Widening Participation Strategy.
